Day 18

Day 18

We escaped the heat today with doing some work in the studio. Not the normal sort of studio work sitting at the computer but instead we were decorating 🙂 We had been building some shelving which also created a gorgeous wall for me to be able to display some lovely wall art on. I have imagined this wall with some gorgeous wall paper on it. Neither Mick or I had ever wall papered before so we were a little nervous about how to go about this task but today is the day where we jumped in and gave it a go. The result is beautiful and I am just in love with my new wall and cant wait to design a beautiful collection of canvas’s to hang.

It warmed my heart to see Elizabeth working with Mick to do those finishing touches. A tender moment between Father and Daughter – Mick’s gentle guidance and Elizabeth trying something new.

Day 17

DAY 17

We are used to Mick working most weekends and when he comes home his is normally tired and not motivated to do much. Yesterday though when I asked him to come to the pool he said “Yes”. Was such a treat for the girls to go swimming and play in the pool with Dad. They enjoyed just being with him, laughing and being silly. The perfect end to a hot summers day.

Day 16

Day 16

The start of the new school year is drawing closer. Only another week left before school resumes. As the day draws nearer I can sense in the kids mixed feelings, the excitement of a new year, the joy of seeing your friends again but also the nerves around a new teacher, and different people in the class. For Elizabeth there’s some extra nerves happening as she is starting high school this year. So it all a whole new school, lots of different kids and teachers as well as hoping that she won’t get lost finding her classes. Part of helping to keep the nerves down is preparing beforehand and today we went a picked up the book packs. Both girls enjoyed exploring what was in their pack and thinking about how they wanted their books covered for the year.

Day 15

Day 15

It’s hot. I don’t remember Brisbane ever being this hot. It’s one of these days where you avoid on going outdoor and hope that you have air conditioning. Elizabeth and Charlotte had spent the day with Mick at his work playing around so it was a wonderful treat for them when I picked them up and took them down to the pool for a refreshing swim. This is what summer is all about – hot days, water and lots of fun and laughter.

Day 14

Day 14

Growing up I always remember mum sewing and making clothes for us kids as well as my dolls. I myself learnt to sew and even made my own formal dress when I was in year 10. Last year at school they taught the kids some basic sewing skills. This was nicely timed with me deciding we needed our own sewing machine. The first thing Elizabeth made was her own pencil case and she did a pretty good job as well.

The curtain over the door in the studio was a bit long and dragged on the floor, so today Elizabeth decided that we should fix the curtain.

Day 13

Day 13

Sometimes it’s the little things that matter. Elizabeth and I had been hunting around for a gorgeous little Jade plant for the studio. We imaged it in this lovely white pot. We found the pot but not the plant. So we waited. Then we found the plant but didn’t have the pot. Today though, we made the trip back to the Nursery to buy the first pot that we saw and tonight as soon as we got home she went outside and potted our little plant. It is so lovely to see our vision come to life. Our gorgeous little Jade tree in it’s white pot looks beautiful in the studio and brings a beautiful energy to our space 🙂

Day 12

Day 12

School holidays are such a great time for kids to relax, rest and rejuvenate ready for the new year a head. Elizabeth has been staying up a bit later than what she would normal but with being able to sleep in a bit in the mornings and then when she is tired, enjoying a nanna nap in the afternoon I know that she is getting what she needs to be ready to start high school in a couple of weeks.

Day 11

Day 11

After a lovely weekend, it was wonderful to come home to my gorgeous family. The kids were so excited to see me and I was welcomed home with the best cuddles.

We have been teaching the kids to help out around the house and working together as a team to make sure the house runs smoothly. Charlotte’s task was to fold and put the clothes away. She does struggle with this some what but she is learning and that is all that matters.

Day 10

Day 10

This weekend I got a chance to get away and spend the weekend with a gorgeous friend and newborn photographer and 2 of her children. We talked and talked for hours, we laughed, we bounced ideas around about our business and life. We were also lucky enough to do some photo sessions together – maternity and newborn, in her gorgeous studio. It was so lovely to be able to work together, to learn and grow from each other.

Day 9

Day 9

It was a busy morning for me. After my morning work out I was busily getting ready for my day, starting with my level 2 Reiki training and then heading up to Maryborough for a weekend away with a good friend of mine. Just before I left I noticed Charlotte quietly sitting on the floor and playing with her lego and watching TV.
